Bahrs Scrub Child Care Centre
ACP’s Bahrs Scrub Child Care Centre project was completed in early September 2021. Located not far off Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road at 32 Bahrs Scrub Road on the corner of Bahrs Scrub & Windaroo Roads, the corner block creates plenty of exposure for this highly sought service.
This early learning centre, created by John Wall Childcare and designed by Raymond Design is special by keeping child care simple and encouraging natural play to nurture resilience in the children attending. The design has four sand pits, two large bike tracks, a waterpark, large grassy area for children to run around, a barnyard which is home to goats, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, reptiles and a wide range of bird species. There’s even a garden world where children learn how to plant, tend to, and eat a variety of herbs and vegetables.
The building is single storey using a traditional rendered brick veneer construction with feature stone cladding in specific areas and also weathertex woodsman cladding. The roof has feature chimneys for the country style which incorporates the mechanical ventilation of the building. Skylights have been incorporated to allow natural light into activity rooms and ampelite polycarbonate sheeting over a new atrium area for natural lighting to the gardens below. The building showcases stone feature walls and columns, along with timber features within the gable, pergolas, and exposed rafters to add an earthy feel.
This project commenced in late-January 2021 and houses 7 activity rooms for babies through to 5-year olds and accommodates up to 120 children. It incorporates an impressive commercial grade kitchen, sleep rooms, library and lounge areas. Bahrs Scrub Early Learning is certainly unique.
